Description

Clean midcentury lines and an exposed walnut frame give this recliner the look of a fine lounge chair rather than a typical motion piece. It sits trim and upright in a living room, then leans back when you're ready to relax.

There is no handle to spoil the profile, and the mechanism offers upright, partial and full recline. The carved walnut arms feel warm and smooth under your hands.

About the brand

Handmade modern furniture from High Point, NC since 1953

Family-owned Thayer Coggin was founded in 1953 by World War II veteran Thayer Coggin, who soon began a 50-year collaboration with designer Milo Baughman. Many of their classic modern designs remain in production today alongside contemporary work from designers including Rick Lee, Ransom Culler and Guy Hill.

Every upholstered piece is made to order in the company's High Point, North Carolina workshops and bench-made: upholstered from start to finish by a single craftsperson, with related sectional modules built by the same hands for continuity. Frames are kiln-dried hardwood, and you can choose from hundreds of in-house fabrics and leathers, wood and metal finishes on select designs, and modular configurations.

Free Will Call pickup from our Tacoma warehouse. In-stock pieces ship as soon as they're ready; special orders are made to order — your designer will give you a lead time.

Common questions

In-stock pieces ship as soon as they're prepared — usually within a week. Special orders are made to order by the manufacturer, so they take longer; your designer gives you a lead time when you order. Either way, we'll call to schedule your delivery once the piece is in and inspected.

White glove delivery is $299–$599 anywhere in Washington State, based on your ZIP code — we carry it in, set it up in your room, and take all the packaging away. Will Call pickup from our Tacoma warehouse is free. You can check your exact fee in the Shipping tab above.

Our white glove service covers Washington State. For deliveries elsewhere, call us at 253.922.5700 or email hello@seldens.com and we'll let you know what's possible.

Yes. With white glove delivery our team unpacks, inspects, assembles and places each piece in the room you choose, then removes all the packaging. There's nothing left for you to put together.

Many pieces are on display in our Tacoma, Bellevue and Olympia showrooms — check the availability shown on this page, or call ahead and we'll confirm. You're welcome to sit, feel the materials, and work with a designer on fabric, finish and configuration.

Yes — samples are available at all three showrooms, and we can mail swatches for most upholstered pieces. Ask your designer or email hello@seldens.com with the piece you're considering.
