Stressless has been built in Sykkylven, a village on the west coast of Norway, since 1971. Fifty five years, one factory, one idea, refined continuously. The engineering is genuinely unusual. There is no recline lever, because the chair reads your body weight and follows you, and the headrest and lumbar support move with you as you lean back.

Glide system. There is no recline lever. Shift your weight and the chair follows you. Set the resistance once to your body and it stays right.
Plus system. As you lean back, the headrest tilts forward and the lumbar support moves in, so your neck and lower back stay supported at every angle without you adjusting anything.
BalanceAdapt. A slight, controlled sway as you move, so the chair feels responsive under you rather than locked in place.
Every Stressless recliner carries a 10 year warranty on its internal mechanism and is tested to 287 pounds on Classic, Signature, Star, Office and Moon bases.

Stressless upholstery comes in several leather grades — Batick, Cori, Paloma, Noblesse, and Pioneer — plus Dinamica, an ultra-microfiber textile. They differ in thickness, surface treatment, how much natural marking shows, how they wear, and price. Options vary by model. We keep the full sample set in all three showrooms
Yes. We offer white-glove delivery and free will-call pickup from our Fife/Tacoma warehouse. We bring the piece in, place it, check the recline, and take the packaging with us.
