“For me, inspiration starts with the effects of color on surfaces — how it creates a feeling, influences a mood and sets a direction,” says Mary. She’s worked in interior design for 44 years and joined the Seldens team in 2012. Over those years, Mary has truly honed her approach to her clients’ projects. “I present idea skeletons — from that I determine how much direction my clients need me to provide. I’ve always found that a collaborative approach is best, but I’ll take as much lead as necessary.”
Mary says she finds a great deal of peace and satisfaction in the design process. “I love being able to put my artistic and design talents to use to create order and balance in a crazy world. And I enjoy the positive feedback I receive — sometimes even years later — from a happy client.”
In her downtime, Mary enjoys exploring her family history and conducting genealogy research. She also loves to go museum scouting and antique shopping.
