McKenzie is the biggest line Whittier Wood sells through Seldens, and the one to start with if you want a whole room in one finish. It is solid American alder throughout, with English dovetail drawer construction and mortise and tenon joinery holding the frames together, and it reads as clean and transitional rather than rustic.
The collection is unusual for how far it stretches: the same finish runs across nightstands and dressers in the bedroom, occasional tables and media consoles in the living room, and a desk and file cabinet for a home office.
One Finish, Four Rooms
Because McKenzie spans bedroom, home office and living room pieces built from the same alder and finished the same way, a McKenzie dresser and a McKenzie media console read as one decision rather than two separate purchases. Start with the piece you need most and add the rest later without a color match problem.
Finishes Run From Light to Dark
Whittier finishes McKenzie in a range that runs from the pale, low-contrast Fieldstone through Java and Pecan to the deeper Glazed Antique Cherry, all over the same alder grain. Lighter finishes show more of the wood's natural figure; darker ones mute it and lean more formal. Because the whole line ships in each finish, the choice is really about the room's light and the rest of your palette, not about which pieces are available.
Shop McKenzie in Tacoma, Bellevue and Olympia
Alder takes a finish differently than oak or maple, and that is easiest to judge in person. See the full run of McKenzie finishes on the floor at our Tacoma showroom, or check Bellevue and Olympia for what else is on display. Our design services team can help plan a full room around it.
