Four Decades of Design That Works
BDI began in 1984, when industrial designer Bill Becker started Becker Designed, Inc. with a single table and a conviction that great modern design shouldn't be locked behind trade-only showrooms. From its design studio in Chantilly, Virginia, BDI went on to essentially invent the modern media cabinet — furniture built around the technology we actually live with. Forty years later, Becker still leads the design team, and every piece is still engineered in-house before it earns the BDI name.

Flow-through ventilation. Air moves through every cabinet so your components stay cool behind closed doors — no vents cut in as an afterthought.
Integrated cable management. Routing channels and removable back panels keep the wiring reachable and completely out of sight.
Media-friendly doors. Louvered wood and satin-etched glass let sound and remote signals pass through, so nothing has to sit out on a shelf.
The details you feel daily. Soft-close doors and drawers, adjustable shelves, hidden leveling wheels, and built-in power in the LINQ bedroom pieces.

BDI builds with hardwood veneers, satin-etched tempered glass, and powder-coated steel. Signature finishes include Natural Walnut, Toasted Oak, and Charcoal-stained options, and several collections offer multiple door styles. Options vary by collection — most pieces we stock come in two or three finishes.
Yes. We offer white-glove delivery and free will-call pickup from our Fife/Tacoma warehouse. We bring the piece in, place and level it, check every door and drawer, and take the packaging with us.
